Labs & evaluation

Start with the numbers.

A physician orders your panel, a board-certified physician reads it, and you leave with a written plan you keep — whether or not you ever become a patient here. No membership required to find out what is actually going on.

To be precise about what this is

Contin-U does not sell lab tests. In most states a clinical laboratory may only run a panel at the request of a licensed practitioner, so what you are buying here is a clinical evaluation: a Contin-U-affiliated physician reviews your intake, orders the panel that is appropriate for you, reads the results, and writes your plan. The bloodwork is a step inside that evaluation, not a product on a shelf.

The draw is included. There is no separate phlebotomy fee, no lab-handling fee and no insurance-billing fee. These evaluations are one-time. Nothing here auto-renews and nothing here enrolls you in a subscription.

One panel. One draw.

Baseline hormone panel
Only if you need it

Baseline hormone panel

One time · draw included

Nine markers chosen to answer one question properly: is your testosterone genuinely low, why, and is it safe to treat. Ordered by a physician, drawn at a Quest or Labcorp near you, and read by the physician who will manage your care.

  • Total and free testosterone by LC-MS/MS, not an immunoassay
  • Sensitive LC-MS/MS estradiol
  • LH and FSH — the workup that separates primary from secondary
  • Safety gates: hematocrit and hemoglobin via CBC, and PSA

Already have bloodwork?

If you have a panel from the last six months — from another clinic, your primary care physician, or your own testing — upload it and a physician reads it at no charge. There is no records-review fee. If what you have is missing a required test, you take our full baseline panel instead. We don’t add single tests.

Monitoring while you are on therapy

Follow-up labs are included in your membership. Guideline-required monitoring is testosterone and hematocrit at three to six months, again at twelve months, then annually, with PSA on the same schedule. You are never billed separately for those draws.

The baseline panel is a one-time charge. It does not recur and it does not enroll you in anything.

What the baseline panel measures
Marker Why it is here
Hormones
Testosterone, Free + Total — LC-MS/MSThe diagnosis itself. Mass spectrometry because direct free-testosterone immunoassays are considered inaccurate.
SHBGRequired to interpret free testosterone correctly.
Estradiol, sensitive LC-MS/MSBaseline before therapy, and the number that decides whether anastrozole is ever indicated.
LHSeparates a testicular cause from a pituitary or hypothalamic one.
FSHSame axis, and the baseline that matters if fertility does.
Safety gates
CBC with differential and plateletsHematocrit. Testosterone raises red cell mass, and a high baseline hematocrit means therapy is withheld until it is addressed.
PSA, totalChecked before starting in men over 40, and monitored on therapy.
AlbuminUsed with SHBG to calculate free testosterone accurately.

Assay methods are specified because they matter: direct immunoassays for free testosterone and for estradiol at low concentrations are unreliable, so Contin-U orders mass-spectrometry assays for both. This panel is built for diagnosing and safely starting testosterone therapy. It is deliberately not a general wellness panel and does not include lipids, A1c, thyroid or vitamin D. Panel composition is set by your physician and may be adjusted for your history, your sex and your current medications. If your physician needs an additional test to make a safe decision, it is ordered at no extra charge.

Three honest outcomes.

What the evaluation can conclude

Treatment is indicated

Your numbers and your symptoms line up. Your physician proposes a protocol, you decide whether to start, and your plan begins.

Treatment is not indicated

Your numbers do not support therapy. We tell you that plainly and we do not write a prescription. You keep the panel and the written assessment.

Something else is going on

The panel surfaces a finding that belongs with a specialist — thyroid, kidney, prostate, haematology. We say so and point you there.

The second outcome is not a loophole

A clinic paid only when it prescribes has an obvious reason to prescribe. We charge for the evaluation, which means a “no” costs us nothing and buys you the same physician time as a “yes.” If that seems like a small distinction, it is the entire reason this page leads with the panel instead of the pricing.

What happens, and when.

From intake to your plan
Day 0

Eligibility and intake

About ten minutes. Medical history, medications, symptoms and the state you live in. If we are not licensed where you are, you find out on the first screen rather than after paying.

Day 0–1

Your physician orders the panel

A licensed physician reviews your intake and issues the lab order. You get a requisition and a list of nearby draw sites.

Day 1–5

The draw

Fasting morning draw at a national patient service centre near you. Roughly ten minutes. Bring the requisition and photo identification.

Day 3–8

Results, read by a physician

Most results return within two to five business days of the draw; mass-spectrometry assays are the slowest line. Your physician reviews everything and writes your assessment.

Day 4–9

Your plan

You receive the full panel, the written assessment, and one of the three outcomes above. The panel and the assessment are yours to keep and to take anywhere.

Timelines describe typical turnaround and are not guarantees. Laboratory processing times vary by assay, by draw site and by season. Fasting requirements and morning-draw timing will be specified on your requisition, because testosterone varies substantially by time of day.
