1. The program in one paragraph
CONTIN-U LLC (a Florida limited liability company), “Contin-U,” “we,” or “us,” runs a refer-a-friend program. Every member has a personal invite code in the member portal. When someone you know enters your code at checkout and becomes a Contin-U patient, your friend receives a $100 account credit. If you and your friend both live in Massachusetts, you also receive a $100 credit (Section 2A). Credits come off future Contin-U membership charges. They are never paid in cash.
2. Who can take part
- Referrers are Contin-U members whose membership is active or awaiting treatment, and who are not employees, contractors or clinicians of Contin-U or its affiliated medical practice, or members of their households.
- Friends are people who have never held a Contin-U membership, who live in a state where Contin-U currently provides care, and who meet every eligibility requirement of our Terms of Service, including the minimum age.
- Contin-U is a cash-pay practice and does not bill Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, the VA or any other government health program. The program is not available for any care that is billed, in whole or in part, to a government health program.
2A. Where referrer credits apply
- Massachusetts. A referrer receives the $100 referrer credit only when the referrer and the friend both live in Massachusetts at the time of the friend’s checkout.
- Florida. Florida law (Fla. Stat. § 817.505) restricts any benefit given in exchange for referring a patient, regardless of how care is paid for. Referrers who live in Florida, and referrers whose friend lives in Florida, do not receive a referrer credit. Florida members may still share their code, and the friend still receives their own $100 credit.
- The friend’s credit is a new-patient discount on the friend’s own membership. It is available to every eligible friend in a state where Contin-U provides care.
3. How to refer
Share your code, or your personal link, with people you know. Your friend enters the code in the “Have a code?” field at checkout, before paying. A link opens checkout with the code already filled in. A code cannot be added after checkout is complete. One code applies per order: an invite code takes the place of any discount code.
4. When credits are earned
- When your friend completes checkout with your code, a $100 credit is created for your friend, and for you if Section 2A applies, and shown as pending in the portal.
- Credits become available when your friend’s first paid treatment term begins.
- If your friend is not approved for treatment, or cancels before treatment begins, any pending credits are cancelled.
- Clinicians are not told whether a patient was referred, and the program has no bearing on any clinical decision. Whether treatment is appropriate is decided only by the treating clinician.
5. Using your credit
- Available credit is applied automatically to your next membership charge, and any remainder carries forward to the charges after it until it is used.
- Credit applies only to Contin-U membership charges. It does not apply to laboratory fees, has no cash value, cannot be refunded, sold or transferred, and is never paid out.
- Credit does not expire while your membership continues. Any unused credit ends when your membership ends.
6. Limits
- One referral credit per friend. A friend can use one code, once, at their first signup.
- You can earn up to 10 referrer credits per calendar year. Friends you refer after that still receive their own credit.
- You cannot refer yourself, a second account of your own, or someone who shares your phone number or shipping address.
- Share with people you know. Codes may not be posted to coupon or deal sites, used in paid advertising, sent as unsolicited bulk messages, or offered in exchange for anything of value.
7. Telling people about your credit
If you can receive a credit when someone signs up, the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement rules require you to say so whenever you share your code or recommend Contin-U, for example: “You get a $100 credit if you join, and I get one too.” The share message in the portal already includes this. Do not make claims about results, safety or pricing that are not on contin-u.com.
8. Privacy
We never tell you who used your code. The portal shows only the date each friend joined and the status of the credit. We never tell your friend anything about you beyond the first name that is part of your code, and we never share anyone’s health information through this program.
9. Fraud and changes
We may withhold or reverse credits, and end a person’s participation, on reasonable evidence of duplicate or false accounts, self-referral, chargebacks, misuse described in Section 6, or any violation of law. We may change or end the program for future referrals at any time by updating this page. Credits that are already available when we change or end the program stay usable under the terms in place when they became available.
10. Taxes
Referral credits may be reportable income depending on your circumstances. Contin-U does not give tax advice. If the value you receive from Contin-U in a calendar year reaches the IRS reporting threshold, we will issue the required tax form.
11. Professional and business referrals
Clinicians, coaches, gyms and other businesses that point people to Contin-U receive no payment, credit, discount, commission or other benefit for doing so. Patients who arrive through a business receive the same pricing as everyone else.
